Setting Up Your Thomas Group Online Hosted E-mail in Microsoft Outlook

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook to work with your e-mail account. This tutorial focuses on setting up Microsoft Outlook 2003, but these settings are similar in other versions of Microsoft Outlook. You can set up previous versions of Microsoft Outlook by using the settings in this tutorial.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > E-mail Accounts.
  2. On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select "Add a new e-mail account" and click Next.
  3. For your server type, select "POP3" and click Next.
  4. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window, enter your information as follows:
  5. Your Name
    Enter your first and last name.
    E-mail Address
    Enter your e-mail address.
    User Name
    Enter your username provided.
    Password
    Enter the password provided for your e-mail account.
    Incoming mail server (POP3)
    Enter yourdomainname.com for your incoming mail server.
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
    Enter yourdomainname.com for your outgoing mail server.

    Click "More Settings."

  6. On the Internet E-mail Settings window, select the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  7. Select "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
  8. Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Finish.

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook Express to work with your e-mail account.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook Express

  1. Start Outlook Express. Click on Tools in the menu bar and then go to Accounts

  2. This brings up the Internet Accounts pop-up window. Click on the Mail tab, to bring it to the front if it is not already so. If you are starting Outlook Express for the first time, there would not be any email accounts listed on this window.

  3. To add a new mail account, click on the Add button and then on Mail as shown in the image below.

  4. This brings up the Internet Connection Wizard pop-up window. Enter your name in the Display Name field and click on the Next button.

  5. The wizard now asks for your email address. Enter the full email address and click on the Next button.

  6. In the next window, you need to select that the incoming email server is POP3. The incoming and outgoing email servers will be yourdomain.com.

  7. The last information that you need to enter to complete the setup of the new account is the username and password for the email account provided to you by TTG.
    After completing the fields for Account Name and Password, click on the Next button.

  8. In the following window, click on the Finish button to complete the process of setting up a new email account in Outlook Express.

  9. You will now see the new email account has been added to the Accounts list. The account is referred by its server name.

  10. Make sure the new account is highlighted and click Properties
  11. Click on the Servers tab shown below.
  12. Make sure that you check the My Server Requires Authentication checkbox as shown below.

  14. Click Apply, and then click OK, and then click Close and your email is now setup for sending and recieving!
